Boy characters who are all different, strong girl characters (yeah! let's hear it for the girls). I reckon this book would suit girls and boys. It made me want to read the other titles, because this one was such a good read. However, I didn't feel left out not knowing how certain things had occurred. There might be some stuff that would be clearer if I had read the other titles in the series. I instantly felt I couldn't put this book down. You get to know about his special abilities and his friends too. The story opens straight into some action, which allows us to get a good understanding of Marco. I did find myself hooked in quickly with the character. Within the first 20+ pages, I knew enough about the kids and the situation that the adventure could unfurl from there. I was a bit worried to be starting on book 5, but I thought I'd risk it. This was the first Animorphs book I have ever read.
